Mara is a rare and valuable tree found bordering forest area. It is a tree growing to height of 18 – 30m tall with a trunk 50cm to 1m in diameter. Mara is a native and widely cultivated and naturalized in other tropical and subtropical regions.

Mara wood has a dark chocolate color. Grain is usually interlocked with a coarse texture and good natural luster. It’s cultivated as a shade tree in north and South America and South Asia.
